Wo elektronische Präzision auf rohe, menschliche Emotion trifft, entsteht mehr als nur Klang. Human in the Loop, das neue Minialbum des Projekts Lay’z, erscheint beim Label naked pulse und öffnet einen Raum, in dem digitale Rhythmen, Club-Atmosphäre und analoge Sehnsucht zu einem einzigen, tief empfundenen Erlebnis verschmelzen. Zwischen elektronischen Grooves, Electronica und internationalem Pop entsteht das, was dieses Album ausmacht: algorithmic soul – Sieben Tracks lang verschwimmen die Grenzen zwischen Chip und Herzschlag.

Minimalistische Ästhetik trifft auf Vibes mit Tiefgang – für alle, die in elektronischen Klangwelten nach Seele suchen. Jeder Track ist ein eigenes Kapitel in einer Geschichte, in der der Mensch trotz aller Algorithmen immer im Mittelpunkt bleibt.
Der Titel ist dabei kein Zufall. Human in the Loop beschreibt in der Welt der Automatisierung genau jenen Moment, in dem der Mensch bewusst in einem sonst maschinellen Prozess eingebunden bleibt – die letzte Instanz, die entscheidet, fühlt und korrigiert. Nicht umsonst singt das Intro von „a loop“, einer offenen, noch unbestimmten Schleife, während der Albumtitel daraus „the loop“ macht – die eine, gemeinte. Aus dem Unbestimmten wird das Bestimmte, aus der Frage eine Haltung. Genau das ist das Projekt Lay’z: der Mensch, der inmitten aller Algorithmen die Kontrolle – und das Gefühl – behält.

Nach einem kurzen Intro (Human in the Loop) beginnt das Album mit seinem ersten großen Statement: No Matter, gesungen von der aus Aserbaidschan stammenden Elvira Michieva, unter anderem bekannt als Mitglied der Girlgroup Bisou. Pulsierende Beats, sphärische Vocal-Layer und eine unwiderstehliche Aufbruchsstimmung setzen den Ton: geh deinen eigenen Weg und greif nach den Sternen. Von dort führt der Weg tiefer in die Nacht – dunkler, hypnotischer, fest im Club verwurzelt (Late at Night): ein Stück über das Unterwegssein, wenn alle anderen längst schlafen, getragen von schweren Bässen und einer Hookline, die magnetisch nachhallt. Und wenn der Sturm aufzieht, kippt die Anspannung in reine Befreiung – der Regen wird zum Rhythmus, das Tanzen zur kathartischen Hymne ans Loslassen (Dancing in the Rain). Im späteren Verlauf des Albums öffnet sich dann ein stiller, intimer Moment (My Old Guitar): verstaubte Saiten in der Ecke, verhallte Erinnerungen und eine melodische Note, die in die späten Abendstunden zurückträgt und lange nachhallt.

In unzähligen Studionächten, in denen Lay’z seine Roots mit globalem elektronischem Output verschmelzen ließ, stand eines nie zur Debatte: Diese Musik wird Menschen bewegen. Um jedes Gefühl zum Vorschein zu bringen, arbeitet er mit den unterschiedlichsten Künstlerinnen und Künstlern zusammen – doch jeder Beat, jede Bassline und jeder Drop entsteht in seiner eigenen Hand. Die Mission ist denkbar einfach: die Welt ein Stück mehr in eine Tanzfläche verwandeln.

Elvira Michieva wurde 1987 in Baku (Aserbaidschan) geboren und kam als Kind mit ihrer Familie nach Deutschland. Ihre Leidenschaft für Musik entdeckte sie früh; 2006 wurde sie durch ihre Teilnahme an der Castingshow Popstars einem breiten Publikum bekannt. Es folgte die Zeit bei der Girlgroup Bisou, die mit der Single „Die erste Träne” und dem Album „Hier und Jetzt” Erfolge feierte. Nach der Auflösung der Band blieb Elvira als Sängerin und Songwriterin aktiv und nahm unter anderem an der aserbaidschanischen Vorentscheidung zum Eurovision Song Contest teil. Neben der Musik ist sie in Mode, Fernsehen und Social Media zu Hause – und entwickelt sich mit Kreativität, Vielseitigkeit und Leidenschaft bis heute stetig weiter.

Human in the Loop – The sound that connects the machine to the soul.

Where electronic precision meets raw, human emotion, something more than just sound is created. Human in the Loop, the new mini-album from the Lay’z project, is released on the naked pulse label and opens up a space in which digital rhythms, a club atmosphere and analogue longing merge into a single, deeply felt experience. Somewhere between electronic grooves, electronica and international pop lies what defines this album: algorithmic soul – across seven tracks, the boundaries between chips and heartbeats become blurred.

Minimalist aesthetics meet profound vibes – for anyone seeking soul in electronic soundscapes. Each track is a chapter in a story in which, despite all the algorithms, the human element always remains at the centre.
The title is no coincidence. In the world of automation, Human in the Loop describes precisely that moment when a human remains consciously integrated into an otherwise mechanical process – the final authority that decides, feels and corrects. It’s no coincidence that the intro sings of ‘a loop’ – an open, as yet undefined loop – whilst the album title turns this into ‘the loop’ – the one and only, the intended one. The undefined becomes the defined; the question becomes a stance. This is precisely what the Lay’z project is all about: the human being who, amidst all the algorithms, retains control – and the feeling.

Following a brief intro (‘Human in the Loop’), the album kicks off with its first major statement: ‘No Matter’, sung by Elvira Michieva, originally from Azerbaijan and known, amongst other things, as a member of the girl group Bisou. Pulsating beats, ethereal vocal layers and an irresistible sense of optimism set the tone: go your own way and reach for the stars. From there, the journey leads deeper into the night – darker, more hypnotic, firmly rooted in the club scene (‘Late at Night’): a track about being out and about when everyone else has long since gone to sleep, carried by heavy basslines and a hook that resonates magnetically. And when the storm rolls in, the tension gives way to pure liberation – the rain becomes the rhythm, the dancing a cathartic hymn to letting go (Dancing in the Rain). Later on in the album, a quiet, intimate moment unfolds (My Old Guitar): dusty strings in the corner, fading memories and a melodic note that carries you back to the late evening hours and lingers long afterwards.

During countless nights spent in the studio, where Lay’z blended his roots with global electronic music, one thing was never in doubt: this music will move people. To bring out every emotion, he collaborates with a wide variety of artists – yet every beat, every bassline and every drop is crafted by his own hand. The mission is as simple as it gets: to turn the world a little more into a dance floor.

Elvira Michieva was born in Baku (Azerbaijan) in 1987 and moved to Germany with her family as a child. She discovered her passion for music at an early age; in 2006, she came to the attention of a wider audience through her appearance on the talent show *Popstars*. This was followed by her time with the girl group Bisou, which enjoyed success with the single ‘Die erste Träne’ and the album ‘Hier und Jetzt’. After the band split up, Elvira remained active as a singer and songwriter and, amongst other things, took part in the Azerbaijani national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. As well as music, she is at home in the worlds of fashion, television and social media – and continues to develop her career to this day with creativity, versatility and passion.
