anlässlich der Bieler Braderie spielen die Swiss Dixie Stompers für den Seeclub Biel am Brunnenplatz von 10.30 – 12.30 Uhr mit toller Stimmung und guter Verpflegung!
Die Swiss Dixie Stompers spielten traditionell auf dem 31. International Old Time Jazz Meeting in Biel / CH (15. – 17.10.1999), diesmal zusammen mit zwei großartigen Gastsolisten und zollten dem unvergessenen “King of Jazz” ihren Tribut. Der eine ist Irakli de Davrichevy aus Paris, ein Bewunderer der Musik von Louis Armstrong und phantastischer Trompeter mit eigenem Stil. Der andere ist Mike Goetz, schweizweit bekannt und nicht nur dort. Goetz ist ein wunderbarer Pianist und in vielen Stilarten zuhause. Danach traf sich die Formation noch im Studio. Die Aufnahmen dieses Albums sind Beispiele für die verschiedenen musikalischen Stationen Satchmo’s, von King Oliver über die Hot Five- und Hot Seven-Besetzungen bis hin zu den berühmten All Stars.
Louis Armstrong prägte maßgeblich die Entwicklung des Jazz und gilt als einer der bedeutendsten Musiker des 20. Jahrhunderts. Obwohl es unmöglich ist, die Kreativität und strahlende Persönlichkeit von Louis Armstrong zu erreichen, haben alle Musiker auf diesem Album sehr viel Gefühl und Können in ihre Interpretationen gelegt. Das Ergebnis: wunderbar swingender, lebendiger Jazz im Geiste von Satchmo. Egal ob New Orleans, Dixieland oder Swing – die Swiss Dixie Stompers interpretieren alles perfekt, mitreißend, swingend und geben sich ihrer Liebe zum traditionellen Jazz hin. Die Swiss Dixie Stompers erfreuen uns mit ihrer Musik seit nunmehr 70 Jahren (2024). Bis heute ist die Band aktiv. André J. Racine, Bandgründer und Leader ist von Anbeginn dabei. Die “SDS” haben 21 Alben aufgenommen.

The Swiss Dixie Stompers traditionally played at the 31st International Old Time Jazz Meeting in Biel / CH (15 – 17 October 1999), this time together with two great guest soloists and paid tribute to the unforgotten “King of Jazz”. One is lrakli de Davrichevy from Paris, an admirer of Louis Armstrong’s music and a fantastic trumpeter with his own style. The second is Mike Goetz, known throughout Switzerland and not only there. Goetz is a wonderful pianist and at one with many styles. Afterwards, the formation met in the studio. The recordings on this album are examples of Satchmo’s various musical stations, from King Oliver to the Hot Five and Hot Seven line-ups to the famous All Stars.
Louis Armstrong had a decisive influence on the development of jazz and is considered one of the most important musicians of the 20th century. Although it is impossible to match the creativity and bright personality of Louis Armstrong, all the musicians on this album have put a great deal of feeling and skill into their interpretations. The result: wonderfully swinging, lively jazz in the spirit of Satchmo. Whether it’s New Orleans, Dixieland or swing – the Swiss Dixie Stompers interpret everything perfectly, in a rousing, swinging manner and are dedicated to their love of traditional jazz. The Swiss Dixie Stompers have been delighting us with their music for 70 years now (2024). The band is still active today. André J. Racine, band founder and leader, has been with the band from the very beginning. The “SDS” have recorded 21 albums.
