J. Boss Band – „Tokyo Fever“: Offiziell autorisierte Neuauflage eines Klassikers
Mit Tokyo Fever erscheint am 28. November 2025 erstmals die vom Produzenten offiziell autorisierte Neuauflage des 1983 nur auf Vinyl erschienenen Albums der J. Boss Band. Die Aufnahmen verbinden Rock, Blues und Hard Rock auf unverwechselbare Weise – getragen von J. Boss’ markanter Stimme, charismatischer Bühnenpräsenz und virtuosen Gitarrensoli.
Das Album wurde im renommierten Liquid-Gold-Mastering-Studio 2025 von Carlos Perón (Ex-Yello) von der Originalquelle überspielt und aufwendig remastered und bietet so klangliche Authentizität und zeitgemäße Brillanz. Nach 42 Jahren erhält dieses Werk nun die verdiente Würdigung durch eine offizielle digitale Veröffentlichung.
Neben den acht Originaltiteln enthält die Edition zwei bislang unveröffentlichte Bonus-Live-Aufnahmen – „I Don’t Need No Doctor“ und „Nutbush City Limits“ – mitgeschnitten während der Dr. Feelgood-Tour 1984, bei der die J. Boss Band als Support-Act die Bühne teilte.
Die Geschichte von J. Boss reicht bis in die 1960er Jahre zurück, als er mit Beat-Ikonen wie The Lords, The Rattles und The Liverbirds tourte. Mit seiner J. Boss Blues Band gehörte er Anfang der 1970er Jahre zu den Pionieren des Blues im süddeutschen Raum. Später stand die Band mit Größen wie Errol Dixon, Eddie Taylor & Louis Meyers, Judy Cheeks, Jim Kahr (John Lee Hooker Band), Henry Gray (Pianist der Blues-Legende Howlin‘ Wolf Band) und Bo Diddley auf der Bühne und absolvierte Supportshows für Eric Burdon, die Puhdys und Dr. Feelgood. Aus der J. Boss Blues Band wurde schließlich die J. Boss Band – und mit Tokyo Fever ihr wichtigstes Studioalbum.

J. Boss Band – “Tokyo Fever”: The Official Reissue of a Classic
On November 28, 2025, Tokyo Fever will be released, the first officially authorized reissue of the J. Boss Band’s 1983 album, which was originally only available on vinyl. The recordings combine rock, blues and hard rock in a distinctive way – carried by J. Boss’s distinctive voice, charismatic stage presence and guitar-driven sound.
The reissue has been transferred from the original source and meticulously remastered in 2025 by Carlos Perón (Ex-Yello) at Liquid Gold Mastering, ensuring both sonic authenticity and contemporary brilliance. After 42 years, this landmark work finally receives the recognition it deserves through an official digital release.
In addition to the eight original studio tracks, the edition features two previously unreleased live recordings – “I Don’t Need No Doctor” and “Nutbush City Limits” – recorded during the Dr. Feelgood Tour of 1984, where the J. Boss Band served as the support act for the British pub rock icons.
The roots of J. Boss reach back to the 1960s, when he toured with beat legends such as The Lords, The Rattles, and The Liverbirds. By 1964, he had founded his first band, The Stones, and by the early 1970s, the J. Boss Blues Band emerged as one of the very first blues bands in southern Germany. They toured extensively, played primarily in jazz clubs, and backed artists like Errol Dixon, Eddie Taylor & Louis Meyers, Judy Cheeks, Jim Kahr (John Lee Hooker Band), Henry Gray (pianist for blues legend Howlin’ Wolf Band), and Bo Diddley. By the mid-1980s, the group had supported Eric Burdon, the Puhdys, and Dr. Feelgood. The J. Boss Blues Band eventually became the J. Boss Band – and Tokyo Fever became their most important studio album.
