Mit „Track 13“ veröffentlichte die deutsche Rock-Band Helter Skelter ein gitarrengetriebenes Rock-Statement. Getragen wird das Album von einer klassischen Fünferbesetzung: Russ Webb (Lead vocals), Richard Hampson (Gitarre), Richie Beaumont (Keyboards), Tommy Karle (Bass) und Werner Bohmer (Drums). Bassist Rolf Kersting, der auf mehreren Alben von Peter Schilling – unter anderen – „Error in the System“ mitwirkte, ist auf dem Song Man In Black zu hören. Mit demselben Stück präsentierte sich die Sieger-Band beim Nachwuchs-Festival von Radio 3 Südfunk Stuttgart.
Musikalisch spannt die Band den Bogen von Rock über Rock Pop bis hin zu Funk. Eröffnet wird das Album mit einem sehr eingängigen Rocksong „Super Sonic“. Mit „Song for Dinah“ entstand eine wunderschöne Pop-Ballade, zugleich ist mit „Bermuda Triangle“ ein poppiger angelehnter Song gelungen. Ihre spielerische Vielfalt stellen Helter Skelter mit dem funky gespielten Discosong „Strategy“ unter Beweis. Die Band ist von herausragenden Rockbands ihrer Zeit inspiriert ohne die eigene Handschrift zu verlieren.
Ursprünglich 1983 von Roxon Records auf Vinyl veröffentlicht, wurde das Originalmaterial 2026 von Liquid Gold Mastering in 24-Bit-Technologie neu transferiert und von Cillian Dee remastert. Das Ergebnis ist eine Edition, die den Charakter der frühen 80er-Jahre bewahrt. Das Ziel ist klar: nicht „modernisieren“, sondern freilegen: mehr Auflösung, mehr Transparenz, weniger historischer Schleier, ohne den rauen Kern zu verlieren.
Roxon Records ermöglicht eine späte, verdiente Rückkehr außerhalb der Vinyl-Nische und holt nach einigen Restaurierungsarbeiten einen Klassiker zurück ins Rampenlicht: als präzise, druckvolle Rock-Platte, die auch heute noch sofort funktioniert.
Die Band veröffentlichte insgesamt zwei Alben: das Debüt „Music Machine“ (1981) und „Track 13“ (1983), ein Album mit echter Zeitkapsel-Wirkung, jetzt erstmals für den digitalen Markt erhältlich. Zu finden bei allen guten Onlinestores. Copy kills music!

With ‘Track 13’, German rock band Helter Skelter released a guitar-driven rock statement. The album is carried by a classic five-piece line-up: Russ Webb (lead vocals), Richard Hampson (guitar), Richie Beaumont (keyboards), Tommy Karle (bass) and Werner Bohmer (drums). Bassist Rolf Kersting, who played on several albums by Peter Schilling – including ‘Error in the System’ – can be heard on the song ‘Man In Black’. The winning band presented this same song at the Radio 3 Südfunk Stuttgart’s young talent festival.
Musically, the band spans the spectrum from rock to rock pop to funk. The album opens with a very catchy rock song, ‘Super Sonic’. ‘Song for Dinah’ is a beautiful pop ballad, and ‘Bermuda Triangle’ is another successful pop-inspired song. Helter Skelter demonstrate their playful diversity with the funky disco song ‘Strategy’. The band is inspired by outstanding rock bands of their time without losing their own signature style.
Originally released on vinyl by Roxon Records in 1983, the original material was re-transferred in 24-bit technology by Liquid Gold Mastering in 2026 and remastered by Cillian Dee. The result is an edition that preserves the character of the early 1980s. The goal is clear: not to ‘modernise’, but to reveal: more resolution, more transparency, less historical veil, without losing the raw core.
Roxon Records has made possible a long-awaited and well-deserved return outside the vinyl niche and, after some restoration work, bringing a classic back into the spotlight: a precise, powerful rock record that still works instantly today.
